Three Simple Rules in Life

I have just read these Three Simple Rules in Life and I totally agree with them since I experienced them myself. Thus, I would like to share them with you all.

1. If you do not go after what you want, you will never have it.
I believe we all have dreams that we want to accomplish, no matter how small or how simple they are. Whether it is to have a new car, a nice house, a cute little puppy or whether it is to be a singer, an actor or merely a mother, those are what we desire in life.

However, only few dare to chase their dreams while others keep their dreams within their mind forever.

I am a dreamer, I honestly admit that. I have tons of dreams I would like to accomplish. Fortunately, I know that my dreams will not just pop up before my very eyes. If I want to achieve my dreams, I have to go after them.

When I first arrived in Spain, I wanted to be a teacher. It was not as easy as I thought it would be. You see, I am not a native English speaker and most of the English academies here demand native speakers to be their teachers. I struggled, but I didn't give up.

After sending hundreds of CVs and writing a bunch of cover letters to various different English academies, I finally got it. I am now a teacher. If I had given up on those days they said "No," I would never have been a teacher.

2. If you do not ask, the answer will always be no.
Have you ever wanted something - that you believe you really deserve it - but was reluctant to ask for it?

It's like being in a crowded restaurant where the waiters are busy servicing one customer after another, forgetting who comes first and who comes next. If you just sit there and wait, the waiter may not come to you and write your order. You have to wave your hand and call the waiter so that he knows you are sitting there, waiting for him.

When you go travelling and get lost, you will get stuck in the same place if you don't ask for directions. You will not get to your destination if you don't dare yourself to approach someone and ask, "How can I go to...?"

The same rules goes with your dreams. If you never ask for them, you will mostly not get them. Most of what I want in life, have been successfully accomplished by asking. To whom did I ask? In my case, I asked God.

I remember that day when I went to work. I was on the bus and I sat behind a lady with a Kindle in her hand. She was reading using her Kindle and I thought, "Would it be nice if I have one myself so that I can spend my spare time reading with it?"

I was indirectly asking God to give me a Kindle. I almost forgot I wanted a Kindle, until it did come to me in a beautiful, surprising way.

My husband gave me a Kindle on Valentine's day this year. I was surprised, but I wasn't overwhelmed because I knew somehow I would get a Kindle. I asked.

3. If you do not step forward, you will always be in the same place.
Let's say you are hungry and you want something to eat. Do you think you will finally able to feed your hunger if you just sit and wish that the food will magically fly to your hands?

You want a job - or a new job. Do you think you will get a job if you only spend your days daydreaming or playing games? Of course not.

If you want to have a better job, for example, you have to at least find job vacancies and send your CVs to those future employers. Unless you dare to try, you will always be in the same spot you are now; jobless.

We have to dare to take the first step. We may not know what will happen after that first step, but at least we dare to step forward. We dare to try.
